Hotel Internships in Australia

pasantias-en-australiaThe Hotel Internships in Australia (Hospitality Internship Program) are paid programs oriented to those who have studied Hotel Management or Culinary Arts and who have relevant experience in the Industry. The positions are available in F&B, Front Office and Culinary Arts and could be for 6, 9 or12 months.

Requirements:

  • Age: 18 – 30 years old
  • To be currently enrolled in the University (last semester) or reciently Graduated (no more than 1,5 years after graduation)
  • Upper-Intermediate to Advanced English level
  • At least 6 months of recent working experience in the position you want to apply and in restaurants/hotels of category 4/5 stars (full time employement of about 30 hours per week)

Program Details:

  • Duration: 6, 9 or 12 Months

  • 4 and 5 star Hotels and Resorts in international chains (Hilton, InterContinental, Stamford, Taj, Quay West, Marriott, Langham, Mercure, Novotel, Sofitel, etc.)
  • Candidates must be 100% flexible with the location (Capital Cities, medium size, Islands, etc.)

Information about Salaries and Positions:

All the positions are “Entry Level” (cook, waiter, receptionist, etc.) and all are paid according to the scale of the Australian Government and according to the qualifications and skills of the Candidates and also to the city where the job takes place. All Interns will get a minimum of 30 hours per week however there are many who work 38 to 40 hours weekly.

Some examples of the minimum wages are:

  • F&B AU$14 – AU$18 per hour
  • Waiters AU$14 – AU$16 per hour
  • Reception AU$15 – AU$19 per hour
  • Culinary Arts AU$14 – AU$19 per hour

Accommodation:

If require we can also assist you with the accommodation:

  • Family House
  • Within the Hotel/Resort – cost deducted from the salary
  • Student Residences
  • Appartments (most expensive option)

Visa Options:

  • Training and Research Visa (402): valid for Candidates of all nationalities and is processed by the Sponsor in Australia.
  • Working Holiday Visa (WHV): valid for certain nationalities and Argentina is part of the agreement with the Australian Government. Those who can apply to this Visa will save approx. AU$800 in the Visa cost as it can be process in person at the Embassy.

Processing Time Frame:

The Candidate must start processing the documentation between 5 and 6 months before the expected start date.

The total cost of the program has to be paid after the Participant has passed all the interviews and the formal acceptance offer signed.

What is Included in the Cost of the Program:

  • Assistance to the Participant to choose to best program matching to his profile, revision and guidance to prepare the Participant’s CV according to format from the Australian Sponsor.
  • Medical Insurance in case of injuries during the entire program according to the Australian Government requirements.
  • Video-conference Interview with the Hosting Company (employer)
  • Pre-departure orientation before to travel to Australia.
  • Frequent inspections to the hotel/restaurant run by a Team of Program Managers from the beginning to the end of the program.

What is NOT included in the Cost of the Program:

  • Flight tickets. It is not necessary to purchase a round trip ticket.
  • Accommodation and Meals (some Hosting companies provide assistance)
  • Some pocket money for additional expenses and also to show when to Custom Officers when entering Australia.

Documentation required to Apply:

  • CV in English
  • At least 1 reference letter or performance evaluation from previous jobs.
  • Copy of your Diploma from a Higher Education Institute or University or a Certificate stating that you are a Regular Student.

Cancelation Policy:

The enrollment fee and any other program costs are reimbursable.
